FWY Sponsored Cradles to Crayons Fundraiser a Great Success!

Flynn|Wirkus|Young’s Lobby at our Quincy Office

FWY’s Cradles to Crayons fundraiser held throughout the month of August at our Quincy office was a great success!

Through the generosity of many people we were able to deliver an abundance of much needed school supplies and other items to help local kids get ready to learn as they headed back to school this fall. Fellow Crown Colony businesses were notified of this event and made donations to our 6th floor offices.

Thomas Berardinelli & Christine Harlow of Taylor River Farm

We wanted to especially give a big thanks to Christine Harlow, her granddaughter Madison, and the Taylor River Farm Youth Group, as well as XS Brokers, and Shields MRI & Oncology-ProCare Support. Through their efforts we were inundated in the best possible way. We received backpacks stuffed with supplies, bags decorated with well wishes, dental supplies, shampoo, hand sanitizers and much more! FWY is committed to causes we care about that help members of our community and will continue to lend our support to these worthwhile organizations.

FWY Sponsors the Third Annual Black-Red Westfield High School Alumni Lacrosse Game

Flynn|Wirkus|Young sponsored the Third Annual Black-Red Westfield High School Alumni Lacrosse game on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Westfield High School.  Pre-game began at 5:30 with face-off starting at 6:15pm.  A group of alumni, headed up by FWY partner Mike Flynn (Westfield High School Class of ’83) faced off against the current Westfield High School varsity squad.   While the seasoned alumni came up just short of the win against the younger and (possibly) more agile varsity players, it was  great event and donations to the Westfield High School Lacrosse Booster Club were gladly accepted.

FWY is committed to sponsoring events like this which are important in supporting the communities we serve and which also pay tribute to the institutions and experiences that made us what we are today.

The challenge will likely be on again next summer so look for an announcement for the 2016 Rusty Cup rematch!

Lori Wirkus presents at School Career Fair

Partner Lori Wirkus hosted a table at the Girl Scout & Freeman-Kennedy School Career Fair on April 30, 2015. The objective of the event was to offer these young girls a sampling of the array of opportunities they can take advantage of in their future.  With over thirty professionals attending from widely varying fields the girls were able to get an idea of what possibilities were out there and, in speaking with each professional, what it takes to pursue and succeed in these different careers.

FWY Wraps for a Cause

Dec 10, 2014

FWY staff and family lent their time and efforts for a second year in a row to the Santa Foundation. Everyone pitched in to wrap, tag, box, and bag gifts to make sure some less fortunate families have a special holiday this year. It is a great cause and one that means a great deal to our firm.

About the Santa Foundation:
The Santa Foundation was established 28 years ago to fulfill one goal. That goal was to provide gifts for families in need at Christmas time. We deliver the gifts to the recipients so that they can maintain their dignity and anonymity. We have always felt that at least on Christmas Day these families should be like every other family. They will receive presents (from the Santa Foundation) and food (provided by the Food Pantry) and maybe a little hope that things will be better in the upcoming year.

Jeremiah Hasson Hosts MHSA Young Professional’s Summer Fundraiser

Aug 20, 2014

On Wednesday, August 20, 2014, FWY Associate Jeremiah Hasson hosted the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance’s Young Professionals Group’s Strikeout Homelessness Summer Fundraiser. The event brought nearly 80 young professionals from the Boston area together to raise funds and raise awareness to fight the problem of homelessness in Massachusetts.  In addition to a night of bowling and networking, the young professionals were able to hear from Paul – a member of MHSA’s Faces of Homelessness Speaker’s Bureau – regarding his experience with homelessness and the effect MHSA has had on his life.  Jeremiah worked diligently with the other members of MHSA’s YPG board and the staff of MHSA to organize the event and served as MC for the evening.  The event was a tremendous success and the funds raised far exceeded the MHSA’s expectations!
